Everything you possibly need to know about missions, quests etc. can be found here:
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
Most comprehensive database available. Another good database is just browsing www.ffxiah.com which links directly to the auction house system on servers and allows you to price compare items and view auction house stock. Just remember to pick the right server.

Killing Ifrit is still a solid all-around forum as is Allakhazam although Allak is scorned by many for their rating system and troll feeding (to find anything useful there you will have to shift through feckloads of muck). The forums generally regarded as best (although elitist by some) are Bluegartr linkshell's forum at:
http://www.bluegartrls.com/forum/

It was originally just a guild's own forum but it has evolved into one of the best english language sources of information and data testing from real players. They are not an official SE fan site so they can post whatever they want, ban retards freely and are usually the first to point out any flaws also. Search there if you need tips and tricks at high levels, stuff like Kaeko's enmity testing all originated there. Lot of the regular posters have blogs with guides to various things too and contribute on ffxipedia.

But yeah, ffxiclopedia has all the information you need. Bluegartr or Killing Ifrit would be your best bet if you're having problems applying that information.

Thanks Vig ^^

Shame to see decent crafting sites like Titanictus dieing off.

Might give Windower a go for the first time. Any plugins you can recommend as useful ?

For daily crafting guild recipe this site is still regularly updated:
http://www.ffrecipe.com/guildPattern.php
(hit the little USA flag in the top right corner to change language, it usually defaults to Japanese)

For just crafting recipes, ffxiclopedia has them all.

And windower indeed rocks, the basic plugins that come with it are pretty much all you need, it has a good screenshot function and lightluggage was auto-sorting inventories long before SE implemented their own auto-sort. By default windower allows you to write more complicated macro sets with unlimited lines as well, check out their site about it. XPwatch is handy too if you're bothered about xp/hr and there are others like infobar that can be handy if you don't remember yet what aggros what (when you tab onto a mob it'll show a bar on the top of the screen saying target's name, HP, weaknesses and aggro behaviour). Additional ones that rock (I can't remember if these are all included in the base package or not) are Yarnball (shows time left on buff spells on individual players, for example it'll say "Refresh: Vigilia 00:25" in the top corner meaning there's 25s left before my 'fresh wears off- if you play RDM/BLM/BRD/WHM/etc. etc. jobs it's a heaven sent), Recast (shows recast timers for all spells and job abilities, awesome for any job) and Spellcast.

Spellcast is a seriously advanced plugin that lets you write .xmls that execute your job's commands instead of using macros. For example you can write up a blm.xml that will automatically change your gear depending on day/weather/enemy in the game and all you have to do is start casting Thunder for example. Even if you do not write the .xmls just having the plugin installed removes the excessive nitpicking SE has in their in-game commands. For example instead of having to type /ma "Raise III" Flight in the commands you can just type /ma raise 3 fli and it will cast raise III on Flight (or anyone else whose name starts with fli), same instead of typing or having a macro for /ma "Cure V" Scudley I can just type /ma cure 5 scud, it autocompletes names and spell names when applicable and removes the need for roman numerals, ' " 's and capital letters. I suck at .xml and in trying to code my own commands but I love it for quick status cures, can type /ma poisona scud faster than look it up from the spell menu.

Think that's it, there's lots more on the official site too at windower.net. I would steer clear of any suspicious-looking ones though even if Aikar (the main dev behind Windower) keeps his baby under pretty tight control.
